Kiros Alemayehu was an Ethiopian Tigrigna singer.He was born into a farmer's family near Adi Teka Tesfai in Tigrai region Wereda Saesit Tsaeda Emba and  Kiros was the only child to his parents and hence the name "Kiros". But Kiros was the equivalent of an army, a bold, fearless patriot who sent even his timid admirers dashing onto the dancing floor all intact with a lion's heart.
Kiros was a prolific song writer and singer. He popularized  Tigrigna songs through his albums to the non-Tigrinya speaking Ethiopians. Before joining  Ras Theater  in 1975 E.C (circa 1982-1983) where he published his first Album, Kiros had worked as assistant trainer of Tigray Musical Troupe . Some of his songs include "Anguay fisis", "Fililiy" ,"Selam Hawa", "Suwur Fikri" "Adey Mekele". Kiros along with other musicians had played in Libya  and other middle eastern countries. A memorial library is under construction in Wukro near his birthplace.  But with the rise of Woyane Tigrai, the Derg started to focus on the rebel singer's growing popularity.  When the Derg launched the infamous Red Terror in Tigrai, Kiros was among the favorite picks. 

He was jailed at Hezb DehNiNet along with other hundreds of Tigrian school teachers, workers and students. Mekelle was shivering from the brutality of Motaleka Desta, who made a habit of sending his attack-dogs at night and torture the political inmates until they became comatose from too much beatings. Every night, Hizb Dehninet would be filled with the wailings and cries of the tortured souls. Indeed, it was the worst of all times. Enjoy the rest of his music.!
